Arsenal & Liverpool chasing World Cup star for just £6.5m

4419482The level of goalkeeping in this summer’s World Cup has been commended by fans in the Football Transfer Tavern.

Tim Howard was more than impressive last night in the United States’ last 16 defeat to Belgium and Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas has also shined.

So much so in fact that the Daily Star claims Arsenal and Liverpool are battling it to sign the Levante stopper for £6.5 million.

“How many goalies do Liverpool need?” asks one of the bouncers, and he has a point.

Liverpool already have two quality stoppers on their books with Simon Mignolet and Pepe Reina currently on the Reds’ books.

Arsenal however are in desperate need of another goalkeeper to give current number one Wojciech Szczesny some competition after the departure of Lukasz Fabianski to Swansea City.

Navas is out of contact at Levante next summer and according to reports, has a release clause in his contract worth just £6.5 million.

Arsenal fans. Costa Rica have over-achieved at this World Cup thanks in part to Navas, but is he Premier League class? Let us know your thoughts below.
