The Football Transfer Tavern is packed tonight as punters enjoy their traditional pre-Christmas drink in the bar.
One of those soaking up the festive atmosphere is The Express journalist Nick Lustig who whispers to me that he has hear of a possible transfer target for Arsenal and Liverpool in the summer.
Lustig explains that Barcelona attacker Pedro is considering his future at the club which has understandably put a whole host of clubs on red alert over his potential availability, including those from the Premier League.
The Spanish international, who hit a stunning first-half hat-trick in Barca’s victory over Getafe on Sunday, is growing frustrated with the lack of first-team opportunities at the Camp Nou and conceded earlier this year that he would move on if the situation did not improve.
This could see the Gunners and Reds both looking at the 26-year-old, whose current contract at the La Liga champions runs until 2016, in the upcoming transfer window and again in the summer.
“I am happy with Barcelona, but things have to be evaluated every season,” he said.
“My goal is to try and stay at this club where I feel very valued and loved.
“When you play less you do not feel less important, but it is true that you notice playing fewer minutes and it is different.
“But I must fight for my only goal, which is to continue with Barca.”
However Lustig does confirm that it could be quite a task to tempt the world class attacker away from Spain with his reported £125 million buy out clause causing some raised eyebrows in the tavern.
Would Pedro really give up life at Barca for the Premier League? Let us know your thoughts below.
