There is potentially good news for Arsenal and Liverpool fans inside the Football Transfer Tavern today who have been handed a boost in their attempts to land Swansea City’s Michel Vorm.
Sources at The Sun have revealed Vorm has not agreed to join Spanish giants and transfer rivals Barcelona as had been previously reported, with uncertainty surrounding whether he will start next season at the Liberty Stadium.
The Daily Star reported earlier this month that the Gunners and Reds were interested in Vorm and reports in Spain had claimed Vorm travelled to Spain over the weekend to thrash out a deal about becoming Victor Valdes replacement at the Camp Nou.
The Spanish goalkeeper has said he will be moving on in the summer after refusing to sign a new contract with Barca.
But Swansea have been quick to come out and deny that their 29-year-old keeper has already agreed a deal, and spoke of their desire to keep him at the club. The club claim Vorm was simply given an extended break by manager Michael Laudrup after his exploits on international duty.
Vorm has enjoyed two impressive seasons in the Premier League with the Swans, despite picking up a nasty injury earlier in the season.
With question marks over both Wojciech Szczesny and Pepe Reina’s futures at Arsenal and Liverpool, they will be watching the Vorm situation very closely in the long summer months.
