A host of Premier League clubs could be left disappointed if the latest reports from The Express are to believed.
Ben Jefferson from the paper has arrived in the Football Transfer Tavern to claim that AC Milan’s Stephan El Shaarawy would be interested in a transfer to Turkey with Galatasaray in January.
The 21-year-old has been chased by Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Liverpool among others and recent suggestions have given hope of a potential Premier League move for the forward after the player fell down the pecking order at the San Siro.
However it seems that the Turkish outfit have taken the first steps as Roberto Mancini looks to improve his squad during the winter window.
El Shaarawy’s agent Roberto La Florio admits that while he has not been formally approached, his client is flattered by the interest shown by the Istanbul club.
La Florio said: “Galatasaray are a big club, they play in the Champions League and are very ambitious.
“If Galatasaray are interested then obviously we would consider any offers made.
“It’s an honour for a manager like Mancini to be interested in El Shaarawy.
“If our terms are met we would be open to talks.
“However, for the time being El Shaarway is keen to continue at AC Milan.”
Mancini is looking for a productive transfer window since his arrival in Turkey and beating his former Premier League rivals to the Italian international would be quite a coup.
Is it a surprise that El Shaarawy would be interested in a switch to Gala? Let us know your thoughts below.
