There are interesting reports emerging in the Football Transfer Tavern this Saturday evening as Metro report that Premier League suitors have been warned off attempting to sign Dundee United sensation Ryan Gauld.
In the past week Gauld has been linked to Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, after he broke through with the Scottish outfit this season while Real Madrid are also keeping tabs on the 17-year-old.
But despite clubs planning potential January offers for the attacking midfield starlet, SFA performance director Mark Wotte says it would be a ‘ridiculous’ time for the youngster to move to England.
“I would prefer him to stay in Scotland, play his games here, before getting a recognised move to an English club,” said Wotte.
“I’ve seen some of the clubs he’s been linked with – it’s ridiculous.
“He doesn’t have to leave Scotland to develop. That’s the most important statement I want to make. He doesn’t have to move.”
While Dundee United are thought to be desperate to hang onto their classy teenager, the Scotland Under-21 international may be available for transfer at around £6 million in the near future.
The Aberdeen-born youngster has even been compared to Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi by some informed watchers and that has caused excitement around the bar.
Do you think the Scottish wonderkid will be seen in the Premier League soon? Let us know your thoughts below.
