He is one of the most talked about players this winter in the Football Transfer Tavern and it seems that Alvaro Morata is set to be a hot topic of conversation again according to the Daily Mail.
The publication has claimed that Arsenal may well land their number one target this winter, but they will have to pay nearly £2 million to do it.
The Gunners are in dire need of a forward and have a whole list of targets, but the most accessible of those seems to be Alvaro Morata, who is currently struggling to get game time at Real Madrid.
The Spanish forward has failed to impress manager Carlo Ancelotti with fellow Castilla player Jese pipping him to the post of being Karim Benzema’s understudy.
Morata is, as we have often talked about in the tavern, more than willing to leave on loan for the remainder of the season and Arsenal are hoping to get him.
Real Madrid may have initially stated he would be going nowhere, but it seems that there is light at the end of the tunnel for Wenger, if he shells out £1.7 million that is.
Should that fail, Wenger also has the option of moving for a world class forward on a big money permanent deal, with Jackson Martinez and Diego Costa being mooted as potential options.
Will Morata make the move? Let us know your thoughts below.
