One position they are desperate to strengthen is centre back and Arsene Wenger is doing all that he can to ensure that one new defender arrives before the window slams shut.
And according to the Daily Mail, the Gunners were last night locked in talks with German giants Borussia Dortmund as they try to agree a fee for Sokratis Papastathopoulos.
Dortmund want £20 million for the Greek international as they feel it will cost a premium to replace him so late into the transfer window.
However the Gunners are not keen on spending that much cash and are currently trying to lower Dortmund’s valuation on the defender.
But Wenger could have his fingers burned unless he stumps up the cash for the centre back who is also confident at right back and in holding midfield.
Arsenal fans. Wenger has left it too late to be picky about transfer fees. Should he just stump up the cash before it’s too late? Let us know your thoughts below.
