Arsenal look to bring former midfielder back to North London

wengerrrArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have expressed their surprise today, after reports stated the Gunners will enter the market to bring a former youth product of theirs back to North London.

Metro, reporting via Sky Germany, state that Arsenal will fight Everton, Leicester City and Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Borussia Monchengladbach ace Havard Nordveit.

The midfielder spent three years at Arsenal but left for Germany in 2010, having failed to break into Arsene Wenger’s first team. On the continent he has excelled though, making over 130 Bundesliga appearances and picking up 24 international caps for Norway.

His excellent performances have raised his profile and there’s now vast interest in the midfield, who is available on a free transfer next summer upon the expiration of his contract.

Premier League sides have an advantage in the chase for Nordveit’s signature, as they can open pre-contractual negotiations with the player this week- but clubs in Germany have to wait until the end of the season.
