Arsenal supporters in the tavern really don’t want to spend the morning talking about goalkeepers after watching Wojciech Szczesny dismissed yesterday in their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich that eventually led to their downfall.
But Jamie Sanderson from Metro still reports that the Gunners have contacted Udinese about potential summer deal for emerging goalkeeper Simone Scuffet.
The Gunners are on the lookout for another shot stopper with both Lukasz Fabianski and the on-loan Emiliano Viviano expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
And 17-year-old Scuffet has been revelaed as Arsene Wenger’s number one choice, with the youngster seen as an ideal deputy to first choice Wojciech Szczesny.
Despite his young age, the Italian has already played in Serie A for Udinese, and has been a regular in recent weeks.
Arsenal scouts have been impressed with his progress and have now approached Udinese to discuss a potential deal at the end of the season.
Udinese are known as a selling club, but they drive a hard bargain, and Wenger is unlikely to be able to get the player on the cheap.
Tall, strong and with excellent reflexes, Juventus have also been monitoring Scuffet in recent weeks.
