Arsenal planning to finally sort depleted strikeforce with move to sign £40m striker from European giants

Alvaro MorataArsenal have endured a rollercoaster ride this season, with a campaign that promised so much ending up becoming lacklustre. Whilst they can still mathematically win the Premier League title, the realists in the Transfer Tavern accept the honour is beyond the Gunners reach.

Naturally, with some much changing across the Premier League in the close season, Arsenal will be splashing the cash to build a competitive side and a world-class striker is top of the agenda.

Fortunately for Gooners, the situation looks promising as AS report Real Madrid will exercise a buyback clause they possess for Alvaro Morata before selling the Spanish forward to Arsenal for €50m.

Morata, who joined Juventus in 2014, is a boyhood Real Madrid star but will not accept a bit-part role in the club. Therefore, if Real Madrid do resign the 23-year-old it will only be to sell him onto the highest bidder.

Juventus would prefer to keep the talented forward but they’re making preparations for a possible departure, so by the summer things could start to take shape for Arsenal to complete a quality deal.
