There are intriguing reports in the Football Transfer Tavern today as The Express suggests that Croatian starlet Alen Halilovic is being watched by Arsenal who could move for the playmaker in January.
Tottenham have been strongly linked with Halilovic in the past and there were even suggestions that a deal was close to completion recently.
Spurs made an offer of around £17 million in the summer for the midfielder and fellow Dinamo Zagreb team-mate Tin Jedvaj. But that was put to bed as Roma secured Jedvaj’s signature instead.
That means no deal has been completed and there is confusion over why the deal with the White Hart Lane club has now reportedly fallen through.
Halilovic’s agent Shay Chen insists his current side want a higher than estimated fee but alternative reports suggest his player’s father wants assurances over playing time.
Bayern Munich have also been rumoured as a possible destination for Halilovic but competition for places at the Allianz Arena could make a move difficult.
And these reports have given hope that the Gunners may be able to snatch Halilovic away from the clutches of their North London rivals.
Halilovic has been compared to former White Hart Lane star Luka Modric, who signed for Spurs from Zagreb in a £15 million move in 2008 and the Gunners would love to beat their rivals to the classy Croatian.
Will the Croatian starlet really choose the Gunners over Spurs? Let us know your thoughts below.
