The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern still haven’t left since the announcement that French international Alexandre Lacazette has joined the club from Lyon for a club-record fee.
Off the back of the second deal of the summer, the Gunners in the bar feel that the sky is the limit for their side this coming season, however, it seems that despite breaking their record fee, there’s still a limit on the club coffers.
According to reports from The Daily Mail, Arsenal’s deal for Leicester star Riyad Mahrez could well be on the rocks after the club decided against paying the £50m asking price over the playmaker’s head.
The Gunners, while interested in the 2015/16 PFA Player of the Year, are only willing to go as high as £35m for the Algerian international.
However, with the report also claiming that Mahrez is still expected to leave the King Power this summer, our landlord reckons that given his desire to make a move the powers that be in Leicester could well be forced to accept an offer below their valuation, there’s still time yet.
