Arsenal man hoping for January exit

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern had expected him to depart in the summer…

Since moving to Arsenal, things have all been rather bleak for Mathieu Debuchy.

After an impressive spell with Newcastle, the Frenchman got his big move – and he initially looked decent following his transfer.

However, an injury would see him miss months of action, and by the time he returned – breakout Arsenal star Hector Bellerin had made his move.

Since losing his place, Debuchy has rarely featured, even when fit, and so he was expected to make a move out of the club in over the summer, but much to the surprise of the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern – that never happened.

Now, several months later, Debuchy has had his say on why he didn’t leave the club – and he has had some telling words for Arsene Wenger.

According to L’Equipe, he said: “I had opportunities at the end of the transfer window…Unfortunately, the club didn’t want to let me go.”

He continued: “[I want] a way out. I want to take on a new challenge, to get back into it, to simply do my job properly”.

He also discussed his poor relationship with Arsene Wenger, stating: “‘We greet each other, we say hello, nothing more”.

Wow…he’s holding nothing back there!

Our landlord thinks that if Debuchy’s Arsenal career wasn’t already over, it certainly is now! He thinks that his relationship with Arsene Wenger looks irreparable.
