Arsenal & Man United deflated as top target wants to stay ‘loyal’

Mats Hummels It has been a busy day here in the Football Transfer Tavern and Metro have made it that little bit busier with their claims over Mats Hummels.

The Borussia Dortmund defender has been heavily linked with Manchester United and Arsenal in recent months and given both clubs are crying out for a central defender, we are not really surprised the links have only intensified.

Whilst the media speculate, Hummels himself has spoken out about a potential move and whilst one may be on the cards eventually, he has made it very clear that for now, he sees his immediate future with Dortmund who are seriously struggling in the Bundesliga this term.

The sought-after defender noted: “I have never said I will stay until 2024 or 2030 or whenever.

“But I have stayed until today. I will stick to my way of not promising anything and maybe leave someday instead of saying I will stay forever and then leave all of a sudden.

“I am not really know as a globetrotter. I have been with two clubs in 26 years. Loyalty is important to me.”

Our resident Red Devils and Gunners fans admit to our landlord that a swoop for Hummels this month was always going to be tough and have immediately quoted the names Winston Reid, Ron Vlaar and Benedikt Howedes as potentially attainable alternatives.

Manchester United fans. What do you make of these remarks? Are you confident of beating Arsenal to Hummels? Let us know your thoughts below.
