Our landlord’s having to separate Arsenal and Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern, with both sets of supporters claiming their club will sign Villarreal starlet Samuel Castillejo this summer.
The Spaniard is just 22 years of age but has already made nearly 100 appearances in the Spanish top flight, having risen through the ranks at Malaga before moving to Estadio de la Ceramica in summer 2015.
The youngster has been in pretty solid form this season, providing two goals and three assists in 26 appearances from wide positions whilst averaging 1.1 key passes and 1.1 successful dribbles per match.
In the latest football news from around Europe, Italian outlet Il Mattino have been reporting on Napoli’s interest in the Spain U21, but further claim that he’s also caught the attention of both Manchester City and Manchester United, alongside Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.
In a nutshell, then, that’s five clubs – including three from the Premier League – who are keen on Castillejo, which perhaps explains why Villarreal reportedly rate him at £34.7million (€40million).
Arsenal and United punters in the Tavern aren’t quite convinced the prodigious winger is worth that much just yet, but they still don’t want their club to miss out on a potential transfer target to a divisional rival!
