Arsenal man yet to enter discussions over new contract (not Wenger)

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were hoping that a new deal would have been secured by now…

Jack Wilshere has had a tough few seasons.

After emerging at Arsenal as a teenager, the English midfielder has struggled with a number of injury issues, with the now 25-year-old often struggling to get a solid run of games under his belt.

His loan deal to Bournemouth made a lot of sense, then, given that he has been able to – at last – secure a solid spell in the first team as he continues his road to recovery, with the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern expecting him to return the Emirates at the end of the season.

However, a report by the Telegraph has thrown a spanner into their plans – with the publication noting that, at present, there is no plan in place to offer Wilshere a new deal at Arsenal.

What’s more, they note that Bournemouth are unlikely at present to sign him permanently – leaving Wilshere’s Arsenal future looking increasingly uncertain.

This has come as a blow to the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern, with many touting Wilshere as a future captain. They think that he is one of Europe’s best midfielders, and many were dreaming of his return at the end of the current campaign.

Wilshere has looked good in parts this season, as the video below shows…

This contractual situation is the latest in what can only be described as somewhat of a contractual crisis at Arsenal – with the future of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and manager Arsene Wenger all unassured long-term.

Our landlord thinks that Ivan Gazidis and co need to ensure that the club organises the future of their key players, or else they could risk losing them at the end of the current campaign. Will Wilshere be a part of that? He isn’t so sure…
