The Daily Express has a claim that has made most punters sit up and take notice here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication has noted that Real Madrid goalkeeper and La Roja legend Iker Casillas is set to make a decision over his future in the coming weeks, putting a host of top clubs on red alert.
As our La Liga resident expert points out, the keeper has been getting used to life on the bench since Jose Mourinho took the decision to favour Diego Lopez who Carlo Ancelotti has decided to keep between the sticks since taking over.
Lopez is in the form of his life and has deservedly kept the number one spot, but Casillas knows that at 32-years-old he should be in the prime of his career and also has a World Cup on the horizon.
Both Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on the keeper who is still rated more highly than Joe Hart or Wojciech Szczesny.
One of our punters notes that it seems to be Manchester City who are in greater need of the stopper with Joe Hart currently on the bench – ironically much like his mooted replacement Casillas.
Citizens back up Costel Pantilimon has also failed to impress and manager Manuel Pellegrini is keen to bring in Casillas who he of course worked with during his ill-fated spell in charge at Real Madrid.
Who could do with Casillas more? Arsenal or City? Let us know your thoughts below.
