October has been a relatively quiet month in the Football Transfer Tavern but one of the main topics of debate has been surrounding the future of Schalke starlet Julian Draxler.
The German has witnessed an array of speculation linking him to Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea respectively.
Now this possible transfer to England looks likely as Metro report that the youngster has now revealed that ‘his dream’ is to join one of the Premier League elite.
The midfielder is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe and has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bundesliga with Arsenal reportedly leading the race.
And now Draxler has admitted that he is keen to join a ‘big club’ in the next few years.
“I owe Schalke a lot, I have always been at Schalke. I need to emphasise this. But I ‘m not so rooted here that I could not tear myself away,” he said.
“I can honestly say that it is my dream to play for one of the big clubs at some point.
“You don’t have to be playing for the very top clubs in Europe to draw attention to yourself, but if you want to achieve the great goals that the world-class players have, then one of them is playing at the biggest clubs in the world.”
Interestingly the 20-year-old also specifically named the three Premier League sides he would like to join if was to depart Germany.
“The big two in Spain – Real and Barcelona – Bayern and a few others from England, namely Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea,” he added.
Draxler has scored two goals in his nine Schalke games this seasons, with both goals coming in the Champions League.
