Arsenal and Manchester United have been put on red alert with news that Barcelona are ready to let Alex Song leave for as little as £10 million in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Star.
The 26-year-old has failed to make a significant impact at the Camp Nou following his move from the Gunners in 2012. He has only started in five of Barca’s 15 league matches this season and that could see him looking for a January transfer.
David Moyes is thought to be tracking the tough tackling midfielder and at a bargain price, the former Everton boss could be tempted into an offer for Cameroon international as he looks to freshen up his squad in the New Year.
Song is already well known to punters in the tavern after his successful seven-year year stint at the Emirates Stadium, where he became a key member of Arsene Wenger’s side.
The Camp Nou outfit are understood to be ready to let Song depart in order to make room for new signings with Borussia Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan on coach Gerardo Martino’s radar.
The former Bastia man revealed earlier this year that he was unsure where his future lies and could be tempted to move.
“I do not know what will happen in the future,” he said.
“But it is true that I spent some fantastic seasons there [at Arsenal].
“We will see what happens, but for now I’m a Barcelona player.”
