Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have found themselves discussing the future of one of their most exciting youngsters, after he suggested he could move away from the club over the summer.
Speaking to Birmingham City’s official website, Arsenal loanee Jon Toral hinted he could return to the Championship outfit next season if opportunities in north London are not forthcoming.
‘I’ll go back to Arsenal and then we’ll decide from there. I’ll play pre-season there and see what the future holds for me. I’d have nothing against (another season at Birmingham) after my experience here this season because I have had a wonderful time and enjoyed it.’
‘But I need to talk to Arsenal and we’ll decide what’s best for me. I think I have progressed a lot this season with more minutes on the pitch.’
‘That’s what you’re looking for when you go out on loan – to get some experience of football at a high level. This is still only my second full season in a professional division like the Championship.’
‘It’s been a year of progress for me and that’s thanks to the staff here and to Birmingham City’.
Toral has not yet pushed into the first-team at Arsenal but has starred on-loan this season, scoring eight goals in 36 appearances, and there could be an opportunity for him with the Gunners as they will wave goodbye to veteran trio Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini this summer.
Arsenal fans, should Toral remain with your squad next season? Let us know in the comments below!
