There is bad news for Everton and Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been claimed by talkSPORT that both sides could well be set to miss out on top transfer target – Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue.
The French international has been impressive and last season was named in the Ligue 1 team of the season. Both Premier League clubs have been looking to sign the player and Arsene Wenger even failed with a deadline day bid for the 24-year-old in January but could now well be set to miss out altogether.
Everton for their part have eyed the player as a successor to Marouane Fellaini who has been linked with a move to Chelsea. Despite both Premier League clubs’ advances, the player is also being courted by mega rich Paris Saint-Germain and has claimed to beIN SPORT that: “There were contacts with Paris St-Germain last winter, and there still are. I’m a huge fan of PSG and to play there would be a dream.”
Given that the player seems to favour a move to the French capital it is doubtful that either Premier League club could convince him either in terms of money or affection.
Is this the end of the Capoue to Arsenal rumours? Let us know your thoughts below.
