Arsenal extended their unbeaten streak in all competitions to 17 games following a 2-1 win against Bournemouth.

The Gunners took an early lead through an incredible own-goal from Jefferson Lerma before Joshua King equalised for the hosts on the stroke of half-time. After four draws in their last five games, it looked like the points would be shared again before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted his 23rd goal in just 26 league appearances since joining from Borussia Dortmund. The win moves Arsenal within one point of fourth-placed Chelsea, who fell to defeat against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Gunners’ progress under new manager Unai Emery has been rapid, but there is still plenty of work to be done to transform the squad into title challengers. One area of improvement could be defence with Shkodran Mustafi remaining a polarising figure at the Emirates. The German has been far too inconsistent and erratic at the back, and Emery must consider replacing the ex-Valencia man.

And the ideal replacement would be Inter Milan powerhouse Milan Skriniar.

Valued at £45 million by Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old has developed into one of the finest defenders in the Serie A after joining from Sampdoria in the summer of 2017. The youngster was one of the stand-out players of last season, playing every single minute of league football for Inter, and he has started the new campaign in a similarly rich vein of form.

Skriniar is perfect for Emery’s attacking system in North London and rarely loses possession, completing an incredible 94% of his passes so far this season. The Slovakia international is also a fantastic tackler, winning 1.9 tackles on average, as well as being a massive aerial threat - Skriniar has won 2.1 aerial duels per game in the Serie A (WhoScored).

The defender is still developing and improving – he has all the attributes to blossom into one of the best defenders in the Premier League. He wouldn’t be cheap, but a player of his ability is definitely worth breaking the bank for.
