The Gunners clearly require a suitable back up to Olivier Giroud and the under performing Danish forward doesn’t provide this for a team challenging at the top of the Premier League.
Yesterday reports emerged that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema was being targeted by Arsene Wenger in a possible January deal but now Mail Online brings news of another possible transfer alternative.
The paper suggests that Arsenal are lining up a £15 million move for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente, but Wenger will have to wait until the summer to complete any deal for the Spanish ace.
Wenger had apparently hoped for a possible deal for the former Athletic Bilbao striker, who only made the switch to Turin during the summer, but this has been dismissed by Juve chief executive Beppe Marotta.
He said: “There is no way we would consider letting him go at the moment.”
However Italian reports suggest that the Turin club could be ready to cash in on the 28-year-old they captured on a Bosman in the summer as he struggles to adapt to Serie A.
Coach Antonio Conte could be eager to make a clear profit on the striker and that could see him joining the Gunners in the summer.
Is Llorente the type of striker Arsenal need in attack or do they need a small diminutive type? Let us know your thoughts below.
