Newcastle United fans are looking pleased here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro note that the club are prepared to play hard ball over the future of Yohan Cabaye.
Arsenal are keen on bringing the player to the Emirates Stadium and have already seen a £10 million bid turned down.
Now it seems that whilst they would sell the French international, they know that Arsenal are getting increasingly worried about the lack of players brought in during the window and now Joe Kinnear is willing to demand up to £20 million for the midfielder.
Given the Magpies’ start to the season has been less than stellar, they do not want to get rid of their best players but are aware that Cabaye’s head may be elsewhere right now and the player has not featured this season so far.
Arsene Wenger has missed out on a whole host of players this summer and has seen fans become more and more unimpressed.
With the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Bernard failing to make moves to the Emirates Stadium and the embarrassment of the Luis Suarez chase rolling on all summer, Wenger is fully aware that buying Cabaye could go a long way to placating angry fans and will consider upping his offer.
Newcastle meanwhile have their own issues and as one of our punters quips, it is hardly like fans are pleased with their own activity this summer, most notably the rehiring of Kinnear and the club are already on thin ice with supporters.
Will Wenger double his money for Cabaye before the window slams shut? Let us know your thoughts below.
