Arsenal need to double their money to land £32m target

QuinteroArsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were preparing to welcome a Colombian with a very big future ahead of him but that pursuit could now be over.

As according to the Daily Express, the agent of FC Porto’s Juan Fernando Quintero has denied that his client is on his way to Arsenal for £16 million.

Reports in the press over the past 48 hours stated that the Colombian youngster would be arriving in North London soon to sign a deal with the Gunners.

However the player’s agent, Ricardo Calleri, has insisted that the midfielder would only be allowed to leave if Arsenal matched Porto’s £32 million buy-out clause – double the original £16 million.

Calleri said: “Porto never talked to negotiate Juan Quintero.

“There are clubs interested, there is much interest in the player, the clubs in Spain and England, but to leave would be one willing to pay the termination clause of the club.”

Any deal for the Colombian youngster Quintero is likely to be plagued by a series of complex negotiations and the £32 million is likely to leave Arsene Wenger looking elsewhere.

Manchester United were also set to be interested but the transfer fee is likely to put Louis van Gaal off the exciting prospect.
