The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern got away with near embarrassment last weekend, but they know better than anyone that their side will need to improve.
Despite claiming he is happy at Arsenal, reports from the Daily Star have suggested that Olivier Giroud is still open to a possible move to Borussia Dortmund.
Whilst that might be a good move for the player, our landlord reckons Arsene Wenger should do anything he can to make sure that doesn’t happen.
Because Giroud has found his calling at Arsenal, the super-sub.
Whilst it’s not the most glamorous of titles, super-subs in the past have played huge roles in team’s successes such as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man United.
The Frenchman made the majority of his appearances last season as a substitute and he was utilised well then too.
His height and strength make it very easy for him to hold up play in the attacking third when Arsenal are trying to hold onto a lead.
He also proved against Leicester that he can come on and nab the winner too.
The 30-year-old offers something so different to Alexandre Lacazette that he makes the perfect substitution.
He can mix the game up and confuse defences with his different playing style to his fellow countryman and that is why he still has time to be a big success as a Gunner.
