Arsenal are believed to be keen on appointing a technical director at the club and it appears they are closer to bringing one to the Emirates Stadium.
According to a report by The Daily Mirror, The Gunners have offered the job to Monchi, who is currently working in a similar capacity at AS Roma.
The 50-year-old knows Unai Emery well, as the pair have both worked together in the past when they were at Sevilla.
Monchi is highly-regarded in European football for his knowledge and ability to spot players with huge amounts of potential, managing to bring a number of talented players into the Spanish side before seeing them be sold for huge amounts of profit.
It is understood that he currently has a buy-out clause in his contract with Roma, estimated to be worth around £1million.
The move by Arsenal to bring Monchi to the club can only be seen as a potentially great deal and one that is very much needed.
Although the Gunners have brought in some brilliant additions recently, the Spaniard will be able to address some of the issues the club have had for a while and will be able to give Emery the backing he needs.
Their prior relationship will only help with things as well as the pair proved they can work successfully together, making the decision to offer him the vacant technical director role a no-brainer.
