Arsenal’s quest for major improvements has taken a surprise twist today, leading to surprise from the Gooners in the Transfer Tavern, but they’re starting to warm to the idea of signing this experienced man.
German media outlet SportBild state Arsenal have offered a three-year deal to Bayern Munich full-back Rafinha, in an attempt to lure the 30-year-old Brazilian to north London.
The veteran defender has been largely the second-choice right-back throughout Pep Guardiola’s time at Bayern Munich and it remains to be seen whether incoming boss Carlo Ancelotti has a place for him amidst his new-look side.
With Rafinha having just one-year remaining on his deal with the Bavarian giants, Bayern could be tempted into a sale and a long-term contract offer would instantly appeal to a player of Rafinha’s age.
Arsenal are in need of depth at right-back, with Mathieu Debuchy likely to leave permanently this summer and Calum Chambers impressing in other areas, and trophy-laden ace Rafinha could be a great tutor to young Hector Bellerin.
Rafinha may have to be understudy to the impressive Spaniard, who was named in the PFA Team of the Year, but given Arsenal’s regular involvement across a wealth of competitions, Rafinha would certainly get opportunities and his experience would be vital to the Gunners.
Arsenal fans, would Rafinha be a solid addition to your back line? Let us know in the comments below!
