There are some surprised looks around the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as some breaking transfer news arrives in the bar.
Sky Sports report that Arsenal have been offered revived hope of landing Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic after the reported swap deal between Juventus and Inter Milan for Fredy Guarin and Vucinic broke down.
We had all expected Vucinic to join the San Siro club after Italian reports suggested that medicals had taken place for both players and only the final touches were needed to see the two players heading in the opposite direction.
However Inter have now released a statement on their official website explaining that they have pulled the plug on the transfer.
“President Thohir, having conferred with Massimo Moratti and the club’s management team, did not feel that the necessary technical and financial conditions were in place to come to a satisfactory agreement,” the statement read.
“The president has already instructed the club’s sporting directors to assess other transfer opportunities, with the aim of strengthening the team while respecting the parameters imposed by the Financial Fair Play rules. ”
This could see Arsene Wenger moving again for the 30-year-old Montenegrin striker on a loan deal for the rest of the season as was recently reported in the bar.
Gunners officials reportedly held talks with the Turin club, but he was then expected to snub this interest and sign for Inter instead.
However with this deal collapsed, we could yet see the talented forward arriving in the Premier League soon.
