Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are in a brighter mood today following Saturday’s success over Everton but they’re well aware of the fact a wealth of business is necessary to complete this summer- so these reports have gone down swimmingly.
French outlet Le10Sport state Arsenal have opened negotiations with Lorient for the services of 22-year-old defender Raphael Guerreiro, with the Gunners confident of a deal due to the close relationship they have with the French side.
Arsenal and Lorient’s most notable business together involved a certain Laurent Koscielny but the Gunners use the Ligue 1 side as a feeder club, sending numerous players on-loan with the list including current first-team star Joel Campbell.
Guerreiro, a Portuguese international, is capable of playing in both the left-back position and on the left-wing, which means any arrival could spark the end of Kieran Gibbs time at the club.
The player would be deemed as the natural successor to current excelling left-back Nacho Monreal and our landlord feels this is a good deal, as he’s not convinced Gibbs has the capability to be a leading full-back for the Gunners.
Arsenal fans, is Gibbs good enough or do you need a replacement? Let us know in the comments below!
