Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have endured a difficult season and they’re worried for the summer ahead, moaning about what could happen over a few pitchers.
Amid speculation that a young player could be snatched up by a Premier League rival, ESPN instead state Arsenal are opening talks with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain regarding a new deal for the England international.
Despite spending the past five years at Arsenal, 22-year-old Oxlade-Chamberlain has never quite established himself as a starter and he’s failed to start five consecutive Premier League matches during that period.
A continuation of his regular absences from the Arsenal set-up this season, partnered with poor form when he has played, had seen Oxlade-Chamberlain linked with a shock move to Premier League rivals Liverpool- but Arsenal are keen to ensure such a transfer doesn’t take place.
Arsenal still value the youngster very highly and his first-team situation could change in the future, although our landlord doesn’t believe the player is up to the required standards at the club.
Gooners, should your club do everything they can to ensure Oxlade-Chamberlain doesn’t leave? Let us know in the comments below!
