Today’s shift has kicked off with The Sun journalists bringing some news involving Arsenal and Newcastle United.
At first, they fail to grab the punters attention, as they believe it is just going to be about another derisory bid for Yohan Cabaye but the punters put down their glasses when Tim Krul’s name is mentioned.
The Sun believe that Arsene Wenger is ready to make a £10 million bid for the Magpies goalkeeper, at the same time as bidding £17 million for Cabaye.
It has been known in the tavern for a while that the Gunners are after a new goalkeeper; just yesterday we had a Daily Mail journalist in linking Arsenal with Palermo’s Emiliano Viviano.
A Geordie regular chirps up and states that he believes Alan Pardew, Mike Ashley and Joe Kinnear will refuse to do business with their Premier League rivals over Krul, due to their anger at Arsenal’s timing of their first Cabaye bid.
Arsenal are a team that I expect to crop up a lot in the Football Transfer Tavern during the remaining few days of the transfer window and I can see a few JD and cokes being ordered by a few restless Gunners.
Are Arsenal really planning this double raid on Newcastle? Do they even need a new goalkeeper? Let us know your thoughts below.
