In news that has heated up our Easter Sunday here at the Football Transfer Tavern it has been claimed by the Daily Mirror that Arsenal are set to launch a £10 million raid on Crystal Palace for one of their stars.
The club are reportedly after Jonathon Williams who has made an impact on not only his club side but also his international side Wales being one of their best players in the recent World Cup qualifiers. Wenger is set to try and land the creative midfielder for around the £10 million mark and is fully aware that Palace may be reluctant to see yet another player leave for a Premier League club.
Of course Palace themselves could become a Premier League club next season and that would be in no small part to Williams’ contributions. Wenger has seen something in the player that he feels is worth acquiring and is determined to add him to his squad in the summer. The Frenchman of course missed out on Wilfried Zaha in January and will not let himself be edged out this time.
Arsenal have been linked with just about everyone at the minute and should all the rumours be believed would have an entirely new starting eleven by the time the new season kicks off. The club are fighting for a top four place and that is something that looks a lot more likely now than it did a month ago and should they claim a place in the Champions League, it will pose much more of an attractive prospect for incoming players.
