Today’s Mail Online link Arsenal with a shock bid to sign AC Milan forward Mario Balotelli with the paper indicating that the former Manchester City man could be available for around £12 million.
The talented striker has made a promising start to life in Italy following his January switch from Manchester City but he has now been handed a three match for abusive behaviour towards a referee during his side’s recent defeat to Napoli.
This could see Milan consider offers for the Italian, who has netted 16 goals in 20 matches, as the San Siro club come to realise that the youngster is more trouble than he is worth, proving a disruptive influence on the team.
We know that Arsenal would certainly benefit from an extra striker with Arsene Wenger currently depending on French forward Olivier Giroud, especially given both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott suffering injuries.
Wenger would proabably love to bring in a forward with Premier League experience although he is likely to be cautious about the 23-year-old’s character as all in the tavern know too well following his exploits on and off the field at the Etihad Stadium.
Interestingly Liverpool have also been linked with Balotelli but a switch to the Emirates Stadium seems more realistic with the opporunity to feature in the Champions League and at the top of the Premier League table.
Can you really see this deal materialising in the near future? And would it be too big a risk for the Gunners to sign the maverick Italian? Let us know your thoughts below.
