Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited for the Premier League’s return after seeing their stars shine on international duty and an interesting rumour has been doing the rounds at the bar this afternoon.
One fan alerted his fellow supporters of reports in France, from Mercato 365, which stated the Gunners are plotting a £22m bid for Marseille forward Michy Batshuayi.
Arsene Wenger failed to add a striker, or any senior outfield player, to his squad over the summer but it’s claimed he’s looking to rectify that mistake in January with a swoop for one of Belgium’s most exciting players.
Batshuayi has been in impressive form for Marseille this season, tucking home six goals in nine appearances in Ligue 1; putting him level at the top of the scoring charts alongside Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani and Nice’s former Newcastle United man Hatem Ben Arfa.
However, Marseille will be keen to keep hold of the player after only signing him from Standard Liege last year and may put the brakes on any transfer until the summer– as they hold the bargaining chip with Batshuayi contracted with the French side until 2019.
Arsenal fans, is a move for Batshuayi a good choice? Let us know in the comments below!
