Arsenal are back in the news today at the Football Transfer Tavern as Here Is The City claim that they are set to swoop in a Cesc Fabregas-like fashion for another Barcelona youth product emerging at La Masia.
It is well known in football that Arsene Wenger has a talent at spotting young and up and coming players and it seems that Barcelona defender Julio Pleguezuelo Selva is on their wish list. The defender is only 16 years of age yet is making more than a few waves in the academy and now Wenger has spotted his chance to swoop for the player before a long-term contract can be penned with the Catalan giants.
A versatile player who can perform either at right back or centre half, Selva could just be the player Wenger is looking for to develop and mould into one of the very best in Europe. One could understand how Selva sees a better chance at Arsenal in terms of breaking into the first team than at Barcelona and given the buy back clauses now included in the sales of La Masia players, a return home, again a la Cesc Fabregas would not be out of the question.
Wenger is of course on the lookout for multiple players this summer and Gunners fans will be hoping that a sufficient amount of ready-made pro’s are brought into the Emirates Stadium ahead of 2013/14.
Will Silva follow Fabregas, Bellerin and Toral into Arsenal? Rate this rumour below.
