Arsenal plot summer swoop for lucrative Serie A striker

InsigneArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have switched their discussion from January additions to star players they could sign next summer, after being alerted to reports in Italy.

Talksport, via CalcioMercato, state that Napoli hitman Lorenzo Insigne is top of Arsene Wenger’s wish-list for next summer as he aims to build a side capable of challenging for the Champions League.

The 24-year-old has been in excellent form for the Serie A title chasers, who saw an 18-game unbeaten run ended at the weekend, with the striker netting seven goals in 17 appearances this season.

Insigne is not regarded as the most important striker in Naples though, with Gonzalo Higuain boasting that honour, but it’s stated Napoli will be reluctant to lose the exciting talents of Insigne.

Arsenal reportedly tried to sign the player in 2014 and failed but the Gunners are keen to revive their interest. However, fans at the bar have declared there is better forward targets out there and don’t believe Insigne should be the priority.
