Arsenal plotting move for ‘new Ronaldo’, player has been scouted

GuedesArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern had been passing the time with a game of pool, believing they wouldn’t be signing any more players this month, but reports from the continent have caught their eye.

Portuguese media report that Arsenal scout Luis Boa Morte was present at Benfica’s game over the weekend, where he is believed to have been casting an eye on 19-year-old Goncalo Guedes; heralded as the next Cristiano Ronaldo.

Boa Morte, formerly a Premier League star, is a scout for Sporting Lisbon in Portugal but is also employed by Arsenal to watch certain Portuguese talents- and Guedes is the latest man on the short-list.

Guedes has three goals in 21 games after establishing himself in the first-team over the past two years and the fact Arsenal have scouted the player has led to The Sun stating the Gunners are plotting a move.

Our landlord is a big fan of Guedes and believes that Arsene Wenger can craft the youngster into a genuine world-beater, though he admits a signing would be difficult to complete.
