Arsenal plotting shock move for Man United midfielder

CarrickArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are anxiously awaiting a mammoth few weeks that will be decisive to their season but the discussions today centre around a shock transfer target, which has the lads by the smoking area stunned.

The Daily Mirror state Arsene Wenger is keen to bring Michael Carrick back to North London this summer, with the former Tottenham Hotspur ace seeing his contract with Manchester United expire.

Wenger is a massive fan of the experienced England international and he’s failed with three attempts to sign Carrick in the past 12 years. However, with his time at United seemingly up, the Gunners may now have a genuine chance.

Arsenal will be looking for midfield recruits at the end of the season due to the likely exits of Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini, as the trio’s contracts at the Emirates Stadium are due to expire this summer.

The 34-year-old would ensure Arsenal still maintain some experience in their midfield ranks but our landlord believes Carrick is more likely to join compatriots Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard in the MLS.

Arsenal fans, would you take Carrick this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
