With just three days to go of the summer transfer window, Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer are holding out some hope that Arsene Wenger could spend some of the £70 million transfer kitty reportedly at his disposal.
It’s been a highly frustrating summer for the Gunners and unfortunately Jamie Sanderson from Metro has now revealed that Wenger faces a threat from Turkish side Galatasaray for Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.
The Argentine international has been told that he can leave the Bernabeu with Real finally set to confirm the signing of Gareth Bale from Tottenham.
Arsenal have been strongly rumoured with a £25 million move for Di Maria in recent weeks but Sanderson suggests that the Turkish side are leading the race after beginning talks on Wednesday and they are ready to pay £28 million to land the former Benfica man while also paying £160,00-a-week wages.
That is something the Gunners could struggle to match and reportedly Galatasaray are pushing to get the deal wrapped up before the deadline, using their close relationship with Florentino Perez to put together a move.
Does this spell the end in Arsenal’s chase of Di Maria? Let us know your thoughts below.
