Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have sunk a fair few pints in misery over recent weeks, with their performances in November not catching the eye.
Luckily, there appears to be positive news on the transfer front to raise their spirits as Talksport, reporting via Fichajes, state that Arsenal are preparing a £35m bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi.
Crucially, it’s stated that the Argentine striker is open to an exit from the San Siro as frustrations grow, with the latest unhappiness stemming out of a substitution in the 46th minute in the defeat on Monday evening.
Arsenal want a new striker to increase their chances of landing the Premier League title this season, with Olivier Giroud their only current option as Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck remain sidelined; although the former should return imminently.
A potential addition of 22-year-old Icardi would hand Arsenal a huge boost immediately and in the long-term, whilst there’s the added bonus that he’d be eligible to feature in the latter stages of the Champions League; should Arsenal overcome Olympiakos in the decider.
Gunners at the bar believe Icardi is exactly what they are missing and believe he will add immense squad depth, giving them their best crop of attackers since the days of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Sylvain Wiltord.
Arsenal fans, is Icardi the ideal striking addition? Let us know in the comments below!
