Arsenal prepare bid for exceptional Serie A striker

Icardi.jpgArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting excited with the latest reports, as it’s suggested they’ve joined the hunt for one of Europe’s most exciting strikers.

CalcioMercato report, via TuttoSport, that Arsenal will swoop for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi in January and could offer up to €40m for the services of the Argentine.

The 22-year-old has endured a rocky relationship with Inter boss Roberto Mancini and could therefore leave the San Siro in the New Year, with Chelsea and Liverpool also potential suitors for the talented striker.

Currently Inter’s captain, Icardi hasn’t enjoyed the sort of form in front of goal that he experienced last season and is struggling to cope with Mancini’s formation change; which seems to have worked overall, with Inter topping the pile.

Arsenal want to bolster their squad in January to improve their chances of winning the Premier League title and a top-class striker is near the top of their agenda, as they target competition for current first-team forwards Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott.

Coquelin’s recent injury may lead Aaron Ramsey to drop into a central role, which could in-turn see Walcott return to the right-wing, which would then leave Giroud as the only striker at the club- something Arsenal fans at the bar are desperate not to see happen.
