Arsenal prepare bid for exciting defensive-midfielder

RabiotArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern almost spilt their eggnog in celebration as it appears the club will finally strengthen a wafer-thin area of the squad, bolstering their defensive midfield ranks in January.

French outlet Buzzsport state that Arsenal are preparing a January bid for out of favour Paris Saint-Germain ace Adrien Rabiot, who is keen to leave the French capital in January.

Arsenal are long-term admirers of the 20-year-old but have had to wait with Rabiot being promised more first-team football action, though that has not been forthcoming this term- raising the youngster’s desire to leave.

Rabiot’s determination to seal an exit from the Ligue 1 giants has not gone down well within the club’s ranks but there’s no shortage of suitors for the talented midfielder, with Tottenham Hotspur and Roma also tipped to make a move in the new year.

Arsenal desperately need recruits in defensive-midfield after losing first-choice Francis Coquelin until February, giving the Gunners only Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta as options- both of whom have spent time injured this season.

Another injury in this area could derail Arsenal’s title ambitions and may have a knock-on effect in the other competitions, with Arsenal beginning their quest to seal a third successive FA Cup in January and facing a mammoth Champions League double-header against Barcelona.

Arsenal fans, is Rabiot the signing you need? Let us know in the comments below!
