Arsenal fans have spent a lot of time in the Transfer Tavern in recent weeks sinking their sorrows but they’re hopeful the latest reports can improve their feelings in the second-half of the season.
The Telegraph says Arsenal are eying a move for Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho to quell the plague of injuries in their midfield, which could derail the Gunners title ambitions.
Arsenal have lost first-team central pairing Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin in recent weeks, with the pair set to be out until well into the New Year, leaving Arsene Wenger’s options severely depleted.
Whilst Arsenal are prioritising a major deal, they are aware that big signings in the mid-season window are difficult to come by and are therefore eying potential moves in the loan market.
The Gunners would prefer a permanent deal to be made but are assessing all their options, with the club understanding how important it is to complete business in the New Year to quell their injury problems.
Gooners at the bar are praying a move for a high-profile target for Carvalho can be pulled off but aren’t too optimistic, whilst they’re also concerned that business in January may come too late for Arsenal to maintain their title push.
