Arsenal fans are looking up with some rare hope here in the Football Transfer Tavern as the Mail on Sunday claim that they could well revisit one of their top targets.
Sorting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho is reportedly once again on the radar of Arsene Wenger who is looking for a midfield enforcer this winter.
After seeing both Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini endure poor first halves of the season, the Frenchman thinks that Carvalho is the man for him.
Carvalho will reportedly cost the Gunners around £20 million and we think that is certainly a fair amount of cash.
However, this figure is far less than is currently being touted for Edinson Cavani and according to our regulars, they would much rather see Carvalho and an additional defender join the club instead of someone like Cavani.
Of course the majority of our regulars note that the Gunners have often been linked with top class players and it seems that more often than not, they manage to miss out on them!
Arsenal fans. Do you think that Carvalho will make a real difference in the second half of the season? Would you pay less because he is Champions League tied? Let us know your thoughts below.
