Arsenal fans have been desperately waiting for some news regarding a top striker signing in the Football Transfer Tavern, and the Daily Mirror believes there has been a breakthrough.

The Gunners have reportedly reopened talks with Real Madrid about the possibility of signing Spanish striker Alvaro Morata in the summer.

And Real are reportedly ready to sell the striker for a fee believed to be in the region of £8 million – on the condition they put a buy-back-clause in the Spanish Under-21 international’s contract.

Wenger is a big admirer of the forward, and believes he has the potential to be a future star at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners had attempted to bring him to the club on loan in January, but Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti was adamant he did not want any players leaving the Bernabeu at the midway point of the season.

Wenger has made signing a striker a priority this summer, and is looking at more experienced players as well as talented youngsters.

Bayern Munich forward Mario Mandzukic is believed to be a target, whilst 21-year-old Nuremberg forward Josip Drmic is also on the club’s radar.
