Arsenal ready move for Premier League star despite Elneny signing

WanyamaArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern were pleased to see their midfield ranks bolstered by the addition of Mohamed Elneny yesterday and the lads at the jukebox have expressed their surprise today, amid reports of another midfield signing.

The Telegraph states Arsenal are still prioritising a move for Southampton’s Victor Wanyama this month as Mohamed Elneny lacks experience in the Premier League, which could result in the Egpytian taking time to settle.

With Francis Coquelin, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky and Santi Cazorla yet to return from injury, Arsenal need a player who can immediately step-in and shine in the midfield- which makes a signing with Premier League experience a priority.

Our fans believed signing Elneny would be the ideal cover for Coquelin but it appears Wenger sees him as more the future, as he aims to draft in Wanyama as an immediate fix to the midfield.

It goes with what our landlord was saying yesterday, as he explained Elneny’s best position is in a box-to-box midfield role and not anchored in front of the defence- which is where Arsenal need strengthening.

Arsenal fans, do you still need to sign midfielders? Let us know in the comments below!
