Arsenal ready to agree terms with 25-year-old as competition heats up

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been very impressed with the form of Jack Wilshere this season. The Englishman has been performing well this term, which is particularly impressive given how tough it has been for him in recent years. With a lack of fitness and faith, he has been treading water, but Arsene Wenger appears to have given him somewhat of a new lease on life this season, and he has returned the favour with a number of good performances.

Now, it appears as though Wenger is ready to reward Wilshere for his fine form – with the Sun reporting that a new deal is on the cards. His current contract expires at the end of the season, and whilst a number of clubs are said to be circling in search of a January deal, Wilshere now looks set to secure fresh terms at the Emirates.

This will certainly be well received¬†amongst our resident Gunners, but that’s no real surprise. A fan favourite amongst Arsenal circles, Wilshere has begun to show the fire, form, and potential that most expected him to bring when he burst onto the scene as a teenager. Now 25-years-old, it’s now or never for the Englishman as he looks to kick on and progress – and so far he’s doing everything right.

He certainly deserves a new deal, and though it remains to be seen just how long his stay at the Emirates will be, he now looks likely to be in London come the 2018/19 season.

Landlord’s Verdict

Wilshere has been viewed over the last few years as a player that missed his potential, and whilst that still rings true, he’s definitely developing at a remarkable rate at present.

Whether he reaches the heights expected of him as a teenager remains to be seen, but he’s doing everything right at the moment, and a new deal makes a lot of sense
