The Daily Star state Arsenal are ready to beat Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester City to the signature of Celtic’s 18-year-old defender Kieran Tierney, who was crowned PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award over the weekend.
Teenage sensation Tierney is one of the most highly-rated prospects in Scottish football and, despite interest from other Premier League sides, Arsenal lead the hunt for his signature and are eyeing a transfer worth around £5m.
The Gunners defensive ranks are relatively frail in the centre, with ageing duo Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny the regular choices ahead of non-English speaking Gabriel, who has struggled to find consistency since moving from Villarreal in January 2015.
