Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have burst into life this afternoon, with suggestions that their club is looking to inflict more disappointment upon Manchester United.
With the Red Devils fans in the bar already reeling from the confirmation that they’ve missed out on Pep Guardiola, The Sun now reports that Arsenal are looking to outbid United for the signature of Renato Sanches.
The highly-rated 18-year-old has been heavily linked with United but Arsenal have sent scout Luis Boa Morte to watch the player– and it now appears they’re ready to make a staggering swoop for a player who has an audacious release clause of £65m, with Benfica stating the player is available.
Arsene Wenger will of course remember a similar situation regarding a young talent in Portugal over a decade ago, regarding none other than a certain Cristiano Ronaldo. United won the race and the rest is history.
Our landlord believes the Ronaldo history could indeed increase Arsenal’s interest in the player and having seen his talent first hand, he’s adamant that the highly-rated player is worth his sensational price-tag.
Arsenal fans, can you beat United to this man? Let us know in the comments below!
